America’s PrepareAthon is a nationwide campaign for action to increase community resilience and emergency preparedness. The goals of the campaign are to increase the number of people who understand which disasters could happen in their community, know what to do to be safe and mitigate damage, take action to increase their preparedness, and participate in community resilience planning. OEM, Miami-Dade Citizen Corps and the Doral Police Department will unite forces to promote public safety and awareness issues, best practices for family security during emergencies, and community preparedness.

OEM is the host agency for Miami-Dade Citizen Corps, which coordinates community programs aimed at preparing residents and visitors with the skills and training to properly deal with a major emergency. The Miami-Dade Citizen Corps Council is made up of four core programs: the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Citizen's Crime Watch of Miami-Dade, Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), and Medical Reserve Corps.

OEM is committed to working with its partners and the community to lessen the impact of disasters and potential catastrophic incidents.
